(In keeping with the Wordless Wednesday meme, I have decided not to add any descriptions of the tulips & lilacs, but if anyone is interested in finding out what varieties they are I'd be happy to provide the info. :) )

I love the purple double tulip.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful. Color combinations are lovely. I love spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers! Particularly loved that purple and white tulip!
ReplyDeleteRebecca girl ! It is just like I said over at my place .. it is wonderful to have Spring all over again here at your place .. the smell of the lilacs must be heavenly ! Can you tell me what those white tulips are ? They are all pretty sisters but that white has me a bit in love with it ? LOL
ReplyDeleteJoy : )
Gorgeous Rebecca...all so pretty...I especially love the 5th shot..beautiful how they are all standing! Wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteWow - Z7 is deep into summer here - thanks for the reminder that it is still actually spring! I may have to put in some new tulips this fall - these are lovely.
ReplyDeletePretty!!!! I feel a flower arrangement coming on, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, I love that one too! It's so big & plump it reminds me of a peony. Unfortauntely it was the only one in a mix of 40 bulbs.
ReplyDeleteHi vrtlarica, I'm glad you like them! We are always so excited to see the spring flowers that we are extra happy about it, but these are very beautiful.
Hi Bernie, Thanks for your post! The purple & whites have gotten huge and the blue centre is an added bonus for those who look closely. Just wanted you to know that I have trouble opening your blog, and can't seem to post, but the pics I saw were gorgeous.
Hey Joy, I'm so glad you stopped by! Yes, tulip love, I know what you mean. The fancy white one is the lily flowering tulip 'tres chic'.
Hi Kiki, thanks for your great message, I like the was that one turned out too! I haven't had tulips for a few years, they really are wonderful.
Hi Cherry Lane, deep into summer? We had snow this past weekend! Amazing what the differences are from zone to zone.
Hi Deborah, In order to create a flower arrangement I'd have to be able to cut a few flowers (shudder), which I have yet to bring myself to do. Maybe if I had planted more...
Your 'Tres chic' tulip has a lot of flare. I like the purple and white colours together.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great when the lilacs bloom? I have to walk by my shrub and enjoy the fragrance a few times a day.
You have so many different tulips. I think I need to branch out more. I bet you're loving the Lilacs too!
ReplyDeleteHi Northern, it certainly does have flare. I wasn't sure of lily tulips before, but now I'm sold on them. The lilacs are wonderful, it was very windy here today and the air was very fragrant.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, Thanks for your message! I haven't had tulips for years so bought quite a few last fall. I'm really enjoying them. Lilacs are great too, I planted one a few weeks ago and bought another this week lol.
These are all so pretty! I could never choose a favorite color for spring flowers. But I do like the smell of lilacs best.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pics! I'm always trying to find new types of tulips to plant. I had some blue fringed ones one year, I wish tulips were perrenial in my area...:(
ReplyDeleteRebecca, wow!! The colours are beautiful and your photos are really great. I feel like I just visited spring! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe first pink bud is very unusual, Does it have lots of petals?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tulips. I especially like the white and red one. It's refreshing to see spring when it's going to be a hot and disgustingly muggy 95 degrees here.
ReplyDeleteOh Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteYour tulips are just gorgeous! I love the first one best, but the white is also just beautiful. I can almost smell the fragrance of your lilacs :-)
PS. Thank you very much for your kind comments.
Hi Rosey, thanks for your post. Lilacs are incredibly special - the variety of colours (mostly in shades of purple) is truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteHi Kyna, Thanks!! I wish they were perennial here too. I'll be lucky if I can get 3 good years out of these, we'll see what happens. I think some do better than others. Species tulips perennialize well, and it seems that many people have reds & yellows that come back year after year. Now I'm rambling, so I'll stop! lol
Hi MsS, thanks so much for your post. It's good that Spring is finally here, seeing how Summer is just around the corner ;).
Hi Ann, welcome & thanks for your message! The double tulip has TONS of petals, I've never seen anything like it before. It is a Blue Diamond tulip, if you'd like to find more info on it. :)
Hi sweet bay, thanks for stopping by! The nights are still cool here, which is kind of nice.
Hi Noelle, thanks for visiting, I know you have a lot on your plate at the moment. I'm glad you like my blooms, they are so very different from yours. You're most welcome for my comments, take care!
Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs and tulips are lovely. I must say that I think I have given up on planting tulips (that little bugger of a vole got to them), which is a shame because I do so enjoy them. But I am happy to enjoy yours. I so wish we could include "smell-vision" with the lilac posts! :)
Lovely fresh spring colours Rebecca. Would like to know ids of tulips in the fifth photo if possible.
ReplyDeleteHi Liisa, thanks for your message. Perhaps container planting tulips would work better for you? I guess it would depend on how determined the voles in your area are! I'm glad you enjoyed my post. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, Thanks for your post. The mix shown in this bed is called 'Blue Bayou' and it is from www.vannoortbulb.com. It consits of Blue Heron (frilly purple), Tres Chic (white), Shirley (white and purple) & Blue Diamond (double purple). I saw a photo in a magazine, and asked my local garden centre to special order them, since it was love at first sight. :)
Thanks muchly Rebecca ~ 'Blue Diamond' was already on my list for next spring. Have grown 'Shirley' before but was disappointed as she did not live up to photos:( Will have to see of I can track the other two down on this side of the pond.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Anna, I hope you are able to find some. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. :)
