This odd little arrangement started with the recue of my lone blue diamond tulip, which had fallen over due to it's immense size. Then I pruned a stem of my purpleleaf sandcherry that was growing along the ground, and the same for a sprig of variegated dogwood & spirea. A lilac stem & a string of hearts and presto, something to put in a vase.
Wishing you a very happy solstice, odd that the days will be getting shorter, as summer is just beginning. It always perplexes me a little.
Happy summer solstice, Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteIt is very strange that summer is just starting and we will be getting shorter and shorter days. But they will not be getting any colder.
Just think how late you can garden tonight, and not need a headlamp. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI love the name of this post! Your bouquet is so pretty and I love how it had it's beginnings. Your post shows that bouquets aren't just made from flowers from the florist. I think the the prettiest ones are from the garden. Thank you so much for participating :-)
It's such a pretty bouquet. I love the Bleeding Hearts in there and all the purples and pinks.
ReplyDeleteThe bouquet is cute...the tulip is such a pretty color which goes well with the bleeding heart.
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca, what a sweet bouquet for the solstice! I love the string of hearts and the varigated dogwood, they give it such an elegant look. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely bouquet! Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteHello from the opposite solstice down here in the Southern Hemisphere :) Our days will be getting a tiny bit longer again now!
ReplyDeleteI think that is a very lovely bouquet with great colours and nice form, which is something I really struggle with! Heidi.
Rebecca girl and I thought it was just me thinking the days are shorter .. the sun is rising just a little later .. wow! already ? LOL
ReplyDeleteI can't make a bouquet for today but I will enjoy everyone else's ?
We haven't had a good rain fall in a long time so yesterday was a very long afternoon watering and trimming up the back an side garden .. I am still tired this morning .. but at least the garden is doing better ? LOL
Beautiful bouquet for a Happy Summer Solstice : )
Love the bleeding hearts. Lovely arrangement there. Happy Solstice!
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice..., such a cute little arrangement. ~bangchik
ReplyDeleteI think that I have competition for my job Rebecca, Good line design.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Summer Solstice
Hi vrtlarica, you're right, they won't be getting colder for some time. Nice perspective. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Northern, good point! ;)
Hi Noelle, thanks so much for your lovely words. Such a wonderful idea for a challenge, it was a lot of fun!
Hi Catherine, thanks for your message. I think I got the idea to add the string of hearts from one of your bouquets!
Hi Millie, Welcome! Thanks for stoppping by! I really loved that tulip, I'm sad there was only one in the mix of 40 bulbs, but I guess it makes it all the more special.
Hi Ms S, thanks for your flattering words, I'm pleasantly surprised that my shrub prunings were able to contribute.
Hi Laura, Thanks! Happy Summer to you too!
Hi gippslandgardener, Thanks so much for visiting. I really struggle with form too, I wasn't sure if this looked balanced or crazy, but it seems to have worked out. So interesting about the 2 hemispheres, very Ying Yang don't you think?
Hey Joy, you are the busiest gardener ever! Be careful not to overdo it!
Hi Chandramouli, thanks for your message, I'm very flattered that you like my odd arrangement.
Hi bangchik, happy solstice to you too.
Hi Deborah, I'm so glad that you like it. Truth be told I was a little concerned that you hadn't posted, and were thinking/cringing 'what on earth has Rebecca done now?' lol. Happy Solstice to you too! Hope all is well. :)
Hi Rebecca, That tulip is gorgeous. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. I'm on my way out to the garden to check on the tomatoes, (which are taking forever to ripen...patience, I know, patience)...but I wanted to stop and look at all the pretty bouquets. I think I'll snip a little of what's out there and post tonight. Happy Summer to you, too. Blessings, Patty
ReplyDeleteHello, visiting via Noelle at Ramblings from a Desert Garden. I don't think you're arrangement looks odd at all, in fact it has a lovely horizontal line with gorgeous color. That tulip is splendid indeed and makes a stunning focal.
ReplyDeleteSummer Solstice Blessings to you.
Hi sewingseeds4U, thanks for visiting my blog! I haven't seen anything like the tulip either, it reminds me of a large peony. I hope it comes back next year.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa O, Thanks so much for stopping by and your kind (& knowledgable) words. Very much appreciated! :)
Wow, that tulip is a looker! Good thing you were able to rescue it with this gorgeous bouquet. Love the purple!
ReplyDeleteYay for Summer!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite color combination. That tulip is beautiful. Balisha
