I was pleasantly surprised to see these beauties right across the street from my house when driving home the other day. I parked, grabbed the camera, and ran outside. I kept a good distance (which is unfortuante for my little point & shoot), but they were still a little suspicious, so slowly moved on. Aren't they lovely?
And here are the permanent residents.

Great photos. Reminded of me of last winter when I decided that real deer must think the lit-up deer are there to honour them. Great theory, don't you think? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your photos of the deer in the snow. I think I prefer live deer to the lighted ones, but at least the lighted ones do not eat your plants ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Ms S, I really like your theory!! I'm sure it is what they think lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Noelle, Thanks, it was nice to see them. I also prefer the live ones, but it's harder to get them to post for long periods of time. ;)
They are so pretty! I agree with you on photographing plants. Much easier :)
ReplyDeleteThese are just beautiful! Its not every day that I see a deer. And you are lucky they did not just run off so you could take these pictures.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine & vrtlarica, Thanks for your messages. I love seeing them, but they are quite shy & highly suspicious of any unusual activity. They seem somewhat use to people walking by, but if you stop and stare they move on.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful. The buck has a very impressive set of antlers! We have beaucoup deer around here but don't see bucks all that often -- except for the buck with the broken leg that we first saw last year, who hangs around the garden and the pasture -- they are typically very shy, with good reason.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, they are so beautiful, (as long as they are not eating my garden).
ReplyDeleteOh My gosh..can't believe I missed this post...what a gorgeous treat Rebecca......Super-magical..inspiring. You always capture the spirit of nature..thankyou for sharing that magic with us all..! What a sight...the spirit of deer walking in the enchanting snow!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
Hi sweetbay, Thanks for visiting. I was also impressed by the size of his rack, and it is quite rare to see the bigger bucks. I hope he stays safe.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, yes, they can be garden eaters. Fortunately we've never had that problem but many in the city have.
Hey Kiki, Thanks for your great (& always positive!) comments. It was fun & exciting to see them. :)
Love the deer photos, the light is so pretty and those trees!
