We had glorious weather today to welcome the new month. I always enjoy March, it is a month of many changes and seems shorter than 28 (/29) day February. We were in the double digits today, and it was so enjoyable to spend time at a local park. I *think* the buds on my lilacs are starting to green. I look forward to the upcoming growth.
I tend to stay off of paths, and find tree lined walks through the park.

March is definitely here, it’s the month when the weather is most unpredictable... Yesterday it was +18C and in two days they are forecasting snow! But the buds on trees are not wrong - spring is here.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that sky is lovely and the lilac buds exciting. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteRebecca girl that BLUE sky is wonderful to see !
ReplyDeleteWe just might get some blue in our lives too this week ;-)
I love the stand of trees .. I have a things for trees as it is .. they have such character !
Lets hope we can really get in our gardens and get some work done ? .. I will feel bad about my old lilac coming out (but I will try to do that method you suggested to save a root section to sprout over the season in a pot .. fingers crossed!) Finding a new specimen tree to take up that corner .. well the Korean Maple I want is like an IMPOSSIBLE MISSION so far ;-( .. but I will keep trying !!
Hi vrtlarica, I'm sure we will have snow again too, it often snows off an on til the end of May! But we'll enjoy the warm weather while we can.
ReplyDeleteHi Cyndy, Welcome! Thanks for your post. Any sign of growth is so exciting after a long winter, I'm glad you like my sky picture. Interesting about the 'pharoah hound', I've been thinking lab/greyhound based on looks and personality. I'll post about her soon, I'm a little worried about the potential effect on my garden, and hope to find some good advice through bloggers.
Hi Joy, Trees are wonderful! They look fine without added decoration (shrubs, flowers etc.), but I find the reverse isn't true. Smaller plants *need* a backdrop of tall trees. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your lilac, and that you find your Korean Maple soon.
It sure looks like the beginning of Spring with that blue sky. I hope you have lots of Lilac flowers this year. Those are one of the flowers I always look forward to.
ReplyDeleteMajestic trees, Rebecca. I'm glad you could spend time outdoors on such a beautiful-looking day! :-) Happy March.
ReplyDeleteGrass and double digits ...what more could you ask for !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day and wonderful kickoff to a great month ahead ! Enjoy !
My March came in like a lion lol. I hope the end of it looks as nice as your pictures do :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous start to March! I love this month too, especially in the woods. You can hear the birds getting more active, the squirrels start chattering more, the water starts moving under the ice - all very exciting!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine, Thanks! I hope so too. I planted a new Mme Lemoine Treeform Lilac last year, and I'm anxiously waiting to see if it blooms for me this year.
ReplyDeleteHi Shady, It's amazing how good it feels to be out in the sunshine this time of year, I suspect we are all a little Vit D deficient!
Hi miss m, thanks for your message, I hope all is well at your end of the country.
Hi Kyna, than you should be able to count on 'out like a lamb' ;).
Hi Ms S, Yes, the wildlife sounds are great, they all sound so happy!
Wishing you a lot of colors this spring...
ReplyDeleteFinally, Rebecca, March!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate Feb, but love March, especially with the week coming up, supposed to be warm every day. No snow in Toronto, but still a few feet up at Kilbourne Grove, I hope it will be gone soon.
Hi Urban Green, Thanks you for the lovely wish!
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah, Yes, it's quite a relief isn't it? I still have some snow in beds, and am debating whether to help clear it out, or leave it just in case.
March is the month where beauty will show its true color!! ~bangchik
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca...yes the sky is super beatiful! Love the trees..gorgeous! Yay..March is here..wishing you much joy!

ReplyDeleteHi Bangchik, I certainly hope so!
ReplyDeleteHi Kiki, same to you! I love mature trees, they make me feel calm.
Hi Ms S, Thanks so much. I figured it was time for a change and people seemed to like my recent Shasta picture. :)
